1. Journées Scientifiques “Galaxies” 2024 (Oct 7-9 2024, Lyon)
The French Programme National de Cosmologie et Galaxies (PNCG, https://pncg.lam.fr/) organizes a national conference on Oct 7-9 2024 in Lyon on galaxy formation and evolution, nearby galaxies, and Galactic archeology.
We particularly encourage researchers funded by the PNCG, students, postdocs, and young researchers in France or with ties to the French community to present their work. Registration is free of charge. We have limited funds to support travel to Lyon — please ask when registering if needed.

Presentations will be in English and in-person only. We welcome both talk and poster submissions, and we aim to include flash-talks for all poster presenters.

2. GdR-IASIS: État des lieux des méthodes d’inversion en astronomie et challenges à venir (6 juin 2024, MSH Paris Nord)
Le traitement et l’analyse de données pour l’astronomie recouvre de nombreuses problématiques du traitement du signal et des images comme la reconstruction, la fusion de données ou la séparation de sources. En outre, la France est impliquée dans de nombreux projets d’envergure actuels ou futurs par exemple les télescopes spatiaux Euclid, JWST et l’Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). Les mesures sont cependant souvent entachées d’effets instrumentaux ou parasites, les modalités d’acquisition sont très diverses et le faible rapport signal sur bruit met au défi les méthodes établies. Par ailleurs, le volume de données est en forte croissance, en particulier pour les mesures au sol, et les instruments sont plus complexes.
L’objectif de cette journée est tout d’abord de faire un point sur les récentes avancées en inversion, détection et analyses de données en astronomie et de discuter des verrous actuels. Le second objectif est de faire un tour des défis induits par le grand volume de données, la complexité des instruments et les difficultés posées pour extraire une information complexe des mesures.
Appel à communications : Les propositions de communications concernant des méthodes d’inversion en astronomie sont les bienvenues. Les personnes intéressées sont invitées à envoyer leurs propositions (titre et résumé en quelques lignes) aux organisateurs avant le vendredi 31 mai.

4. Multi-messenger astronomy with gravitational waves -17th Marcel Grossmann Meeting (July 7-12, 2024, Pescara, Italy)
We are pleased to announce a call for abstracts for a session titled “MA1: Multi-messenger Astronomy with Gravitational Waves” at the upcoming Seventeenth Marcel Grossmann Meeting (MG17) in Pescara,scheduled for July 7-12, 2024.
The advent of gravitational wave astronomy has heralded a new era in multi-messenger astrophysics, offering unprecedented insights into the cosmos through the synergistic analysis of gravitational waves, electromagnetic signals, and other cosmic messengers. This collaborative approach has not only enhanced our understanding of some of the universe’s most enigmatic phenomena, such as binary neutron star collisions, but has also paved new pathways for exploring the fundamental laws of physics and the nature of the Universe itself.
This session welcomes presentations that utilize joint observations with gravitational waves and other astronomical messengers as probes into fundamental physics, cosmology, and astrophysics. Furthermore, we invite contributors to share works that offer software tools designed for simulating, analyzing, or aiding in the joint observation of gravitational waves and other messengers.

second announcement for the first “TEONGRAV international workshop on theory of gravitational waves”, to be held at Sapienza University of Rome on Sep, 16-20 2024:

The aim of the workshop is to discuss different aspects of the theory of GW sources. Topics will include GW modeling, tests of gravity, neutron-star equations of state, astrophysical black-hole formation channels, and EM counterparts to GW events.
Registrations and abstract submission will close on May 31st, 2024! We expect to ask for a small fee (EUR 100) to partially cover organization costs.
We will have slots for contributed talks, round tables, and discussion.
