1. Invitation to participate to a survey about CFHT’s Upcoming 10 years
As CFHT approaches the end of the current Maunakea lease, we plan to spend the remainder of this decade working in close consultation with the newly formed Maunakea Stewardship and Oversight Authority (MKSOA), our Hawaiʻi community, and our astronomy community to build a collaborative future that we hope results in the continuation and upgrade of CFHT on Maunakea past 2033.
Based on our decades of experience and preparing for a bright future that includes MSE, CFHT is considering a streamlined instrumental and operational plan for the next 10 years. As agreed with CFHT’s Scientific Advisory Council and Board of Directors, CFHT is seeking input from the user community on this plan.
For this consultation of the user community, CFHT will release a survey in mid-September, with a closing date one month later.
In preparation for this survey, CFHT held two online discussions during which we presented the plan and responded to questions and comments. The sessions were held Aug 30 at 7 am HST and Sep 5 at 3 pm HST.
For those who missed our webinars, Zoom recordings and additional information can be found on the following page https://www.cfht.hawaii.edu/en/news/Survey2023/
We have opened the survey that solicits your thoughts on the plan we have presented: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CFHTSurvey2023
The survey is anonymous and opens on September 19, 2023. It will remain open until October 19, 23h59 UTC.
Please reach out to Nadine Manset, Director of Science Operations manset@cfht.hawaii.edu or Mary Beth Laychak, Director of Communications and Community Engagement laychak@cfht.hawaii.edu with any questions.

2. “International Workshop on Multi-probe approach to wavy dark matters” (Nov 30 – Dec 2 2023, Seoul, Korea)
We would like to announce the International Workshop on Multi-probe Approach to Wavy Dark Matters. This workshop will be held at Korea University in Seoul, South Korea, from November 30 (Thursday) to December 2 (Saturday).
Please visit the workshop web page: http://cmb2023.korea.ac.kr
Registration and abstract submission are now open. The deadline for abstract submission is October 31, and November 10 for registration.
This workshop is one in a series of workshops related to the cosmic microwave background (CMB) and related techniques and topics, “CMB systematics and calibration” in 2020 (Tokyo), and “Galactic science and CMB foregrounds” in 2022 (Tenerife). This year the focus is on the connection between CMB and other fields, particularly the CMB and Wavy Dark Matters. We hope to foster interdisciplinary collaborations between theory and experiment and across cosmology as a whole.
Topics to be included:
- Theory: motivation of wavy dark matter and the many probes.
- Cosmic probes: CMB and astronomical probes
- Radio probes: haloscope, LC resonators, dish antenna, and others
- New probes: quantum, optical, and others
Confirmed Invited Speakers:
- Kwang Sik Jeong (Pusan National University, Korea)
- Kai Murai (Tohoku University, Japan)
- Keir Rogers (University of Toronto, Canada)
- Saebyeok Ahn (IBS, Korea)
- Chanda Prescod-Weinstein (University of New Hampshire, USA)
- Dan Zhang (University of Washington, USA)
- Shun Adachi (Kyoto University, Japan)
- Saptarshi Chaudhury (Princeton University, USA)

5. Atelier SKA-Cosmo (23-24 November 2023, Observatoire de Paris)
The website for the SKA Cosmology-Large Structures-Galaxies workshop is now available on :
Over two days (23 and 24 November 2023) at Paris Observatory, we aim to offer the French communities, and in particular our young colleagues, a space to present their latest work in connection with SKA. It will also be an opportunity for scientists in these fields to discuss and discover the synergies and opportunities that will be offered by the future instrument.
Registration is now open, as is the call for contributions. Deadline (registration & contributions): 13 October 2023.

- Sujets de thèse pour tous les domaines soutenus par le CNES ;
