Advances are expected in support to on-site activities such as innovative measurement techniques, increased sensitivity, increased robustness, faster and more accurate data processing or in-situ sample and data analysis.
The proposed activities should target primarily European and European-led space science and exploration missions or international missions where the participation of European partners provides demonstrated added value in technological development and scientific output.
Activities are expected to achieve TRL3-4 by the end of the project.
3. CNRS/CNES call – New methods for the processing and analysis of spatial dataCNRS and its Mission for transversal and interdisciplinary initiatives launches the call for projects “New methods for the processing and analysis of spatial data”.
This CNES-CNRS joint action aims to stimulate the development of innovative methods for processing, analyzing and scientifically exploiting spatial data, including for the preparation of future missions. It covers all projects, involving spatial data or remote sensing, and all scientific disciplines.
This call calls for projects dealing with issues such as (non-exhaustive):
- Simulations of complex error sources, synthetic data and workflows
- Signal denoising and separation of different signals of interest
- Data-driven approaches for building models and emulators
- Exploration / reduction of data spaces, inversion, data assimilation
- Collaborative work methods (for example project management of an AI development)
- Multi-scale analyzes of spatial data (e.g. clustering, excavation, visualization, exploration), image processing including hyperspectral
- Selection of information (e.g., interrogation, extraction of trajectories), real-time processing on the ground or in space, compression / decompression
- Quantification and control of uncertainties and biases, including for complex instrumental chains;
- Aggregation, fusion and enrichment of spatial data
- Infrastructures for the management and access to (flow of) spatial data: storage, indexing, optimization, workflow

Some of the eligibility criteria below:
- The project must be carried by a permanent scientific staff (CR, DR, MCF, PR, IR) belonging to a CNRS and / or CNES unit.
- The consortium must bring together at least two different affiliate teams. Projects involving a team CNES with a CNRS team will be strongly encouraged. In the case of a project carried only by two CNRS teams, the consortium must bring together at least two units from at least two different institutes
- Interdisciplinarity, risk-taking, disruption and exploratory nature will be the key criteria taken into account counts in the selection of projects
- The budget request, over a maximum of two years, must not exceed € 30,000 per year
- The approval of the project by the director of the coordinating lab is mandatory

4. CMB-S4 Postdoctoral Fellow at LBNL (US)
Deadline: 7 January 2022
Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s (LBNL) Physics Division (PH) has an opening for a CMB-S4 Postdoctoral Fellow to join the team.
In this exciting role, you will assist the CMB-S4 data analysis and simulation team, working on the development of realistic models of emission of foreground emission in the frequency range of CMB-S4 observations (30-300 GHz), as well as on the development of models of slow drifts and systematic errors due to the terrestrial environment (atmosphere, ground pickup, thermal instabilities). Your responsibilities will include supporting the development of a global simulation pipeline for CMB-S4, and contributing to the generation of mock CMB data for CMB-S4 data challenges.
