1. Journées spectroscopie du PNCG (16-19 oct. 2023, Paris)

2. Cosmology 2023 in Miramare ( 28 aug – 2 sept 2023, Trieste, Italy)Cosmology offers today one of the most important frontiers of physics. The mystery of dark matter and the puzzle of dark energy are still outstanding. On the observational side, there is an exponential growth of accurate and important data, which will help in establishing the new needed theories.
In this conference we plan to bring together researchers from the observational, computer simulation and theoretical sides working in cosmology, astrophysics and astroparticle physics, to discuss the current situation as well as prospects for the future improvements.
All the topics will be discussed from different angles starting from the booming flow of observational data. The topics to be discussed will include:
- The current Cosmological Model and its Tensions (Theory and observations)
- Dark Matter (Theory, Observations, Detection, Production)
- The Evolving Universe (Reionization, first galaxies and their SMBH, Quasars and AGN, the assembly of cosmological structures)
- Probes of the Universe from (new incoming) measurements of the CMB and of its Large Scale structure.
- Multimessenger cosmology (Gravitational waves, Cosmic Gamma and X-rays, Neutrinos)
- Black holes in the Universe over 10 orders of magnitude in mass
- Astrophysical aspects of Cosmology.
A number of invited talks from leading scientists as well as many contributed ones from participants will be presented.
The conference will take place in presence in the Miramare campus, in a conductive atmosphere, appropriate for the dramatic paradigm shift that we may be witnessing in these days.
The conference will begin on the morning of Monday and end before lunch on Saturday.
The conference fee is 200€, both for contributing speakers and attendees. There is still the possibility to attend remotely, with a fee of 30€. In the registration form the applicants must provide the requested information, in order to receive the payment instructions.
Support for accommodation of contributing speakers will be available for a limited number of cases.
Peer-reviewed proceedings are being organized.

The School is designed for Master and PhD Students as well early career researchers working in the areas of cosmology and astro-particle physics. The training programme combines scientific and soft-skills components. The School website can be found at https://eucaptcosmo.blogs.uv.es
Scientific programme (approximately 2/3 of the lectures):
inflation, primordial black holes, gravitational waves, dark energy, amplitudes in cosmology, data analysis/statistical methods, lattice simulations.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Daniel Figueroa (CSIC – University of Valencia)
- Alessandra Silvestri (University of Leiden)
- Andrew Tolley (Imperial College London)
- David Wands (ICG, University of Portsmouth)
***Additional speakers will be announced in the coming weeks (please check the website for updates).
Soft-skills programme (approximately 1/3 of the lectures):
effective communication (oral, written/digital), communication and interaction skills that favor teamwork, organization and time management, conflict management and negotiation, leadership.
The school will have no registration fee and will amount to a study load of 3 ECTS.

4. CPAC Postdoc at Argonne
Deadline: Jul 18, 2023
The Cosmological Physics and Advanced Computing (CPAC) group at Argonne invites applicants for a postdoctoral associate to conduct research on topics related to galaxy clusters and SZ cosmology from CMB surveys. The successful applicant will be expected to work on projects connected to the SPT-3G and CMB-S4 cluster cosmology efforts, related cross-correlation activities with DES and Rubin’s LSST, as well as to explore their own independent research program. The position, with an anticipated start date (with flexibility) of Fall 2023, is renewable annually for up to three years based on satisfactory performance.
Our postdocs can benefit from strong collaborations with cosmologists, applied mathematicians, computer scientists, device physicists, materials scientists, and statisticians; they will also have access to world-leading supercomputing resources. Interactions with research groups at Fermilab, the University of Chicago, and Northwestern University are highly encouraged.

5. Postdoctoral fellow (M/W) QUBIC Data Analysis (CMB Polarization) (APC)
Deadline: 15 august 2023Contract Period : 24 months
Expected date of employment : 1 September 2023
https://emploi.cnrs.fr/Offres/CDD/UMR7164-JEAHAM-001/Default.aspx?lang=EN
Missions
Research work funded by French Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) on Observational Cosmology, particularly the research for B-modes polarization of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) with the QUBIC Instrument.
QUBIC is the first Bolometric Interferometer. It was inaugurated in November 2022 at its observation site in Argentina. The scientific objective is the search for primordial gravitational waves with the B-mode polarization of the CMB in order to constrain the inflation era.
Activities
- Development of the data analysis pipeline for QUBIC: timeline analysis, frequency and astrophysical components map-making, angular power spectrum measurements, and cosmological parameters constraints.
- Calibration of the instruments using classical techniques, but also the development of the self-calibration technique for QUBIC
- Mitigation of atmospheric contamination developing a new method based on the interferometric nature of QUBIC.
Skills
- Good knowledge of modern cosmology and of the associated data analysis techniques
- Statistical tools (Likelihood, Bayesian methods, power spectra analysis)
- Advanced Python programming skills
- Basic knowledge of MPI and OpenMP would be a plus
- Basic knowledge of radio interferometry would be a plus
Work Context
The postdoctoral fellow will be part of the QUBIC team at APC laboratory (Paris – 13th arrondissement). The APC Laboratory hosts teams in astroparticles and cosmology.
The QUBIC team at APC includes the Spokesperson, the Instrument Scientist, the Calibration Scientist, and the Project Manager. It is therefore deeply involved in all aspects of QUBIC. The APC team has been leading the development of specific QUBIC data analysis in the collaboration, including self-calibration and spectral-imaging.
Constraints and risks
The postdoctoral fellow might have to travel to the various institutes involved in QUBIC (France, Italy, Argentina, UK, and Ireland) and might travel to the observing site at 5000m a.s.l. in the Salta Province, Argentina.
