1. Colloque national “Dark Energy” (13, 14 et 15 octobre 2020, LPNHE, Paris)
Le quatrième colloque national “Dark Energy” se tiendra au LPNHE à Paris les 13, 14 et 15 octobre :

Comme les années précédentes, au delà d’un certain nombre de thématiques identifiées qui feront l’objet de présentations, un temps significatif sera consacré à des présentations sur les travaux récents pour lesquels vous êtes invités à soumettre vos propositions.
Les missions pourront être financées, en particulier pour les participants effectuant une présentation et pour les jeunes chercheurs.
Le colloque est gratuit mais l’inscription sur le site obligatoire. La capacité d’accueil actuelle est limitée à 60 personnes en présentiel, la participation en mode distanciel est également possible lors de l’inscription.
Les conditions sanitaires nous ont conduits à ne pas prévoir la mise à disposition de boissons et accompagnements lors des pauses, ni à organiser de repas.
Les groupes de travail (ateliers Theories, Outils, Sondes) se réuniront pour une séance courte en début d’après midi les 13 et 14 pour avoir un bilan des actions passées et des perspectives envisagées par chaque groupe. Les conclusions seront rapportées en séance plénière.
La participation à ces journées est ouverte à tous, l’inscription est cependant obligatoire.

2. Webseminars
Le jeudi 08/10/2020 de 11h à 12h, pour son séminaire hebdomadaire, l’Institut de Planétologie et d’Astrophysique de Grenoble (IPAG) recevra Denis Barkats pour une présentation de Cosmologie centrée sur la polarisation du CMB et intitulée:

3. Postdoc Gaia CNES – Appel à sujets
Dans le cadre du projet GAIA, le CNES a prévu de soutenir l’exploitation scientifique via le financement de 2 postdocs pendant la phase d’exploitation. Chaque postdoc est mis en place pour 2 ans.
Le CNES lance donc la procédure pour la sélection de deux nouveaux postdoc pour un démarrage à l’automne 2020.
Le CNES lance un appel à sujet ouvert à toute la communauté scientifique française, selon les modalités ci-dessous :
1) Chaque équipe proposante devra fournir pour le 04/10/2020 à minuit à philippe.laudet@cnes.fr un document de 5 pages maximum avec :
– le projet scientifique : contexte scientifique, les objectifs visés, les étapes du projet et les méthodes utilisées, la liste des personnes impliquées dans le projet.
– une description des principaux résultats obtenus sur le sujet par le groupe proposant dans les 3 dernières années.
– la liste des publications des 3 dernières années.
– les financements post-doctoraux obtenus dans les 3 années précédentes et en cours sur l’exploitation scientifique de Gaia
2) Les propositions seront examinées début octobre par un comité ad’hoc comprenant des membres des Programmes Nationaux et la Présidente du Groupe Astronomie-Astrophysique du CNES. Ce comité sélectionnera 2 sujets.
3) Les équipes proposantes seront informées courant octobre du résultat de la sélection. Les deux équipes sélectionnées organiseront ensuite librement leur processus de recrutement.
Remarques importantes:
L’excellence scientifique est un critère majeur de choix. Les proposants devront notamment démontrer l’intérêt du projet, en termes de résultats attendus et d’originalité. Ce soutien spécifique du CNES pour GAIA est distinct et indépendant des allocations postdoctorales que le CNES attribue chaque année à de jeunes chercheurs sur la base de l’excellence de leur candidature. Ces deux processus – soutien au projet GAIA et allocations postdoctorales – ne sont d’ailleurs pas exclusifs.

5. Postdoc position at MPE with focus on OU-PHZ
MPE is opnening a post-doc position to work on the Organisation Unit Photometric Redshift (OU-PHZ). It is a 2 years position with focus on the spectroscopic calibration performed with LUCI at the LBT telescope.

6. Tenure-track Faculty Position in Cosmology (Cornell University) The Physics Department at Cornell University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position pursuing observational and/or experimental cosmology research. Candidates with millimeter or submillimeter instrumentation and data analysis experience who have the desire to collaborate on the Cornell-led CCAT-prime project are of particular interest. The CCAT-prime telescope is a high-throughput 6 meter aperture telescope that is now under construction and will be built at a high-elevation site in Chile with first light expected in 2022. This project is an ongoing international collaboration that includes research groups in both the Cornell Physics and Astronomy Departments. Cornell researchers are involved in several related cosmic microwave background projects, including the Atacama Cosmology Telescope, the Simons Observatory, and CMB-S4, and are interested in combining measurements from CCAT-prime with these and future panchromatic and multi-messenger surveys.
We particularly encourage applicants from groups that are underrepresented in physical sciences, such as women; Black, American Indian, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander, and Latinx scholars; as well as individuals with disabilities, and protected veterans. We seek candidates with an established record of high-impact research to conduct an independent research program and to teach and advise our undergraduate and graduate students. A Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field is required. Our intent is to hire at the assistant professor level, but more senior appointments may also be considered.
Required materials are a cover letter, a curriculum vitae with publications, a statement of research, a statement of teaching and mentoring philosophy, and three letters of recommendation. - one 1-year position on “Big Data exploration with Artificial Intelligence: from Cosmology to practical applications” mainly related to the development of machine learning tools for cosmological exploitation.
